Texas 66 Goes to Oklahoma City

The Old Route 66 Association of Texas was honored to have been offered a booth space at the AAA Route 66 Road Fest in Oklahoma City on June 18 & 19, 2022!

This was the first official Kickoff event leading up to Route 66 100th Birthday Celebration in 2026.

The Old Route 66 Association of Texas was the only “visiting” State that was able to attend this weekend’s event but our booth mates: The Oklahoma Route 66 Association, The City of Tulsa, and the Oklahoma City Tourism, were great fun to be partnered with for the weekend!

We had a wonderful time visiting with all of the event attendees as well as meeting many of the AAA event hosts & the vendors that were set up and the car show participants. We were able to not only promote Texas 66 and all the places to see and things to do along our 178 miles, we were also able to get the word out about our first Texas Route 66 Motor Tour event to be held in October of 2022!

TEXAS WELCOMES THE WORLD

TEXAS WELCOMES THE WORLD means exactly that! We welcome all of our travelers, visitors and locals to come experience TEXAS 66!

We have wide open spaces and smiles on our faces! We LOVE TEXAS and we LOVE ROUTE 66 and want to share what we have with y’all!

From East to West or West to East, Texas 66 was once our most traveled road, with 172 original miles and 19 original towns! Now there is about 150 drive-able miles with 9 towns, and two former Ghost Towns that are being given new life, Jericho & Glenrio! SomeĀ  iconic places that can only be seen on Texas 66 are: The U-Drop Inn, A Museum dedicated to the history of Barbwire housed in an old Bra factory, The Leaning Water Tower, The Bug Ranch, The Cadillac Ranch and of course the halfway point of Route 66 in Adrian at the Midpoint Cafe sign are just waiting for travelers to visit and explore!

We hope to see y’all real soon on Texas 66!
